Martin Scorsese's bio-pic of boxer Jake LaMotta, Raging Bull, opens in New York City.

2001:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone opens in the US. Debuting on a whopping 3,672 screens, the film set the opening weekend mark for November with $90.28 million.
