Almost Famous: Bootleg Edition

Clearly this group loves Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous. The film won our awards for last year (when the bunch was affiliated with a separate site) and we clearly opened our arms to the opportunity to reward it once again this year as Crowe released the wonderful Untitled DVD, which includes the full cut of the film along with a delightful commentary featuring both Crowe and his mother.

Second place went to this year’s musical favorite, Moulin Rouge!, which indeed has some outstanding features, including commentary and extended cuts of some of the dance and musical scenes, not to mention a wonderful Easter egg which allows us to see Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman just having a blast when the cameras continue to roll after a scene has ended.

I might be giving away some secrets about our voters here, but they might just happen to like The Simpsons a little bit. Despite a general consensus of disappointment in the features and commentary for the season one set, it garnered enough votes to place third. We just love Homey that much.

Another of our favorite films from 2000, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon makes a repeat appearance for 2002 as voters had the opportunity to watch favorite scenes such as the bar fight over and over again in all their impressive glory. The Godfather Trilogy rounds out the top five in a category that received a total of 46 nominations.
